Black Ops 7 Best PC Settings:
FPS, Input Lag and Packet Burst
The display and quality settings to use, why texture streaming can cause lag spikes, how to read the telemetry overlay, and how to fix the Secure Boot / TPM error.
Fullscreen Exclusive, V-Sync off, NVIDIA Reflex On + Boost, and a frame cap you can hold. Let shader preloading finish before you play. Set On-Demand Texture Streaming to its lowest option so the game is not downloading textures mid-match, and keep VRAM use under your card's limit. Many "packet burst" icons come from these local hitches, not from your internet.
The competitive setup:
Right-click the desktop > NVIDIA Control Panel, set these once and click Apply. Leave everything else on default.
Manage 3D settings > Global Settings
Manage 3D settings > Program Settings
Display > Change resolution
Video > Adjust video color settings
Optional, only if you use G-SYNC: Display > Set up G-SYNC
Black Ops 7 compiles shaders the first time you launch it and after every driver or game update. Until that finishes, you will see stutter that no setting can fix.
On-Demand Texture Streaming downloads higher quality textures from the internet while you play. On a slow or busy connection, that traffic competes with your game data. Lowering it is the first step when you see lag spikes.
Like Battlefield 6, the PC version uses kernel-level anti-cheat (RICOCHET) that requires Secure Boot and TPM 2.0.
Before you start
- ✓Update your GPU driver.
- ✓Wait on the main menu until shader preloading reaches 100%.
- ✓Close downloads on every device on your network while you test.
Step-by-step
-
1.Fix the Secure Boot / TPM 2.0 error first
The PC anti-cheat requires Secure Boot and TPM 2.0. If either is off, the game will not start, no matter how good your settings are.
- Press Win + R, type
msinfo32and press Enter. Check BIOS Mode (it must say UEFI) and Secure Boot State (it must say On). - Press Win + R, type
tpm.msc. It should show "The TPM is ready for use" with Specification Version 2.0. - If BIOS Mode says Legacy, your system disk uses MBR. Convert it to GPT first with Microsoft's MBR2GPT tool (command below), then switch the BIOS to UEFI.
- In the BIOS: turn CSM off, set Secure Boot to Enabled (Windows UEFI mode, standard keys), and turn on fTPM (AMD) or PTT (Intel) if TPM was missing. Save and restart, then check msinfo32 again.
mbr2gpt /validate /allowFullOS mbr2gpt /convert /allowFullOSCareful: Back up important files before converting a disk, and suspend BitLocker first if it is on. Only switch the BIOS to UEFI after the conversion succeeds, or Windows will not boot.
- Press Win + R, type
-
2.Display settings
- Display Mode: Fullscreen Exclusive.
- Screen Refresh Rate: the highest your monitor supports.
- V-Sync (Gameplay and Menus): Off.
- NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency: On + Boost. On AMD, use Radeon Anti-Lag.
- Custom Frame Rate Limit: set a gameplay cap (see below).
-
3.Quality settings
- Start from a low preset.
- Upscaling: off at 1440p and above if you already have enough FPS. Otherwise DLSS or FSR at Quality.
- Texture Resolution: Normal or Low on 8 GB cards, higher only if VRAM allows.
- On-Demand Texture Streaming: the lowest option (Off or Minimal, depending on the version).
- VRAM Scale Target: around 80. Lower it if the game stutters with VRAM near full.
- Turn Depth of Field, World Motion Blur, Weapon Motion Blur and Film Grain off.
-
4.Turn on the telemetry overlay
It tells you whether a hitch is your FPS, your network or the server.
- Go to Settings > Interface > Telemetry and turn on FPS, GPU and CPU time, latency (ping) and packet loss.
- If FPS dips at the same moment as the packet burst icon, the cause is local (shaders, VRAM, streaming).
- If FPS is steady but ping jumps or packet loss rises, the cause is your network or the server. See our ping spikes guide.
-
5.Fix stutter after updates
- If stutter starts after a driver or game update, use Restart Shaders Pre-Loading in the graphics settings and wait for it to finish.
- Do not delete the NVIDIA or AMD shader cache as a "fix". Everything has to compile again, which causes more stutter.
-
6.Set a frame cap
- With G-Sync or FreeSync: a few frames below refresh (138 at 144 Hz, 224 at 240 Hz).
- Without them: a cap your PC holds in busy fights, so the GPU is not stuck at 100%.
Check that it worked
- ✓Shader preloading shows 100% on the main menu.
- ✓The telemetry overlay shows stable FPS during fights and no rising packet loss.
- ✓VRAM use in the overlay stays below your card's total.
What does not work (and why)
✗ Packet burst always means bad internet
Local hitches from shaders, full VRAM or texture streaming often trigger the same icon. Check the telemetry overlay first.
✗ Copying a RendererWorkerCount value from a video fixes stutter
The game sets it automatically for your CPU. A value copied from another PC often causes more stutter. Only change it if you test the result on your own CPU.
✗ Clearing the shader cache before every session helps
It forces a full recompile, which causes stutter until it finishes.
✗ On-Demand Texture Streaming is only about looks
It also downloads data during play, which matters on slow or shared connections.
The parts that depend on your exact hardware
Everything above is free and safe on any PC. The parts below depend on your exact CPU, RAM, motherboard and games, so they need live testing. That is what a 1-on-1 YTUNE session covers:
- ✓RAM timing tuning for steadier 1% lows
- ✓CPU tuning for your exact chip (X3D, Intel hybrid)
- ✓Network adapter and router setup to remove real ping spikes
